Kosovo, FIFA appreciates historic rise in world rankings

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has returned attention to Kosovo for its extraordinary rise in the world rankings. FIFA published on Wednesday the new national team rankings after the 2026 World Cup play-off matches, while on Friday it shared a post on social networks with photos of Kosovo's national team players, praising the team's progress.

In the headline, FIFA emphasizes: "Kosovo continues to climb," indicating that the Kosovo National Team has recorded its biggest climb in the rankings so far.

In its post, FIFA published four photos showing Kosovo's journey in the rankings:

The first photo shows Fisnik Asllani and Dion Gallapeni, symbols of the team's growth. The second photo shows Florent Muslija, while FIFA recalls that Kosovo was ranked 190th in July 2016 and since then the team's trajectory has been in continuous growth.

The third photo shows Kreshnik Hajrizi, illustrating the new record achieved by Kosovo, which now occupies the 78th position in the FIFA world rankings, the highest position achieved so far.

The last photo shows Kosovo players with their hands over their hearts during the national anthem. FIFA praised the performance of the Kosovo national team in World Cup qualifiers, noting that the high ranking was achieved after an impressive campaign, where Kosovo finished second in its group and managed to defeat Slovakia in the semi-finals of the European play-offs, before being stopped by Turkey in the final.

This post by FIFA is a well-deserved recognition of the continuous work, dedication and worthy representation that the Kosovo National Team is providing in the international arena and a good promotion of the state of Kosovo itself.
