Rio Ferdinand lists the four transfers Man.United should make this summer...

Rio Ferdinand is always attentive to Manchester United's day-to-day operations and, at a time when qualification for next season's Champions League is on track, he has already begun to identify transfer priorities for next season.

According to the former central defender, for the Red Devils to increase their ambitions, they need to invest in four reinforcements - two central midfielders, a full-back and a striker.

"If I were at the club, I would bring in two midfielders, one starter and another younger one to replace Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo," he begins by saying on the 'Rio Ferdinand Presents' podcast.

"Then I would look for another striker, a younger one as a replacement for the ones we already have and another defender," he adds, noting that he prefers "to be realistic rather than talk about 10 new players at once."

Moving on to specific targets, Ferdinand considers Elliot Anderson, the Nottingham midfielder, as one of the players who best meets his expectations in the Premier League at the moment.

"At the beginning of the season, everyone was talking about Carlos Baleba, but I think his form has dropped significantly. Elliot Anderson seems to me to be the one who has moved to the front of the rankings. He is a great player.

"I think he would be the ideal signing, also because of his character, and he would be a great addition to the team. United need a midfielder who can be anywhere, cover a lot of ground, with consistency, dynamism and who can lead the team," he concludes.
