Collaborated closely with the former head of Milan's ultras/ Fatjon Gjonaj,

Fatjon Gjonaj, considered the Albanian leader of a gang involved in international drug trafficking, has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to Italy. He was arrested on June 3 in Dubai and arrived at Rome's Fiumicino airport at around 6:15 p.m., from where he was immediately transferred to prison under the disposal of the Italian judicial authorities.

Gjonaj is suspected of having collaborated closely with Luca Lucci, former leader of Milan's "Curva Sud" and now arrested for drug trafficking in April 2025. Both are considered key figures in a network that controlled a large supply line of cocaine, hashish and marijuana from Morocco and Spain to Italy.

According to Italian authorities, in just seven months, the gang led by Gjonaj and Lucci trafficked over 3.5 tons of narcotics, earning around 1,000 euros for each kilogram of hashish – while the figures were even higher for cocaine and marijuana.

The investigation began after an assassination attempt on Enzo Anghinelli on 12 April 2019 in Milan. Luca Lucci was convicted at first instance as the mastermind and Daniele Cataldo as the perpetrator of the attack. This investigation served as the basis for the dismantling of the international trafficking network and led to the arrest of 12 people in December 2024 and April 2025, including Lucci.

The narcotics were transported by trucks to a warehouse in Inveruno near Milan, and then distributed on the market through a sophisticated scheme that also used two Amazon employees to avoid police attention.

With the arrest of Gjonaj, Italian authorities announce that they have hit one of the most important branches of drug trafficking in northern Italy.
