Life imprisonment for 'Skillë', member of 'Hellbanianz'

Member of the 'Hellbanianz' group, known by the nickname "Skilla", Sabajet Shuti, 31, has been sentenced in London to life imprisonment, on charges of murdering 27-year-old Lumturi Zeqja.

Shuti's brother, Emirlion Shuti, 30, also part of Hellbanianz known by the nickname "Mili HB", was found guilty of fighting at the same event. He received a 20-month prison sentence and probation.

The court heard how Sabajet Shuti launched the attack on the evening of October 16, 2022, in Church Lane, Leytonstone.

Lumturiu was standing outside a cafe with his friend when the Shuti brothers arrived at around 10:40 p.m. in two cars. The brothers went to another cafe, but a short time later Emirlion Shuti returned to one of the cars and began driving it along the road.

Lumturi's friend approached Emirlion and told him to stop, but instead, Emirlion got out of the car and spoke to his brother and others outside the cafe. The situation quickly escalated after Emirlion Shuti punched Lumturi's friend. During the ensuing argument, Sabajet Shuti pulled out a knife and stabbed Lumturi twice, and his friend once.

Both Shuti brothers fled the scene, leaving Lumturi dead on the sidewalk. Emergency services arrived, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to save him. His friend was taken to hospital for emergency surgery and fortunately survived the attack.

Detectives began gathering evidence and by accessing security camera and cell phone footage they were able to identify who was responsible.

The day after the murder, Sabajet Shuti made plans to leave the UK. He changed his appearance by shaving his beard and then travelled to Folkestone before crossing the Channel to France. An arrest warrant was issued for him and, around a year after the attack, on 3 October 2023, Sabajet Shuti was arrested in Sweden. He was extradited back to the UK to face the consequences of his actions.

During the intervening period, detectives had also arrested the accused Emirlion Shuti for his role in the attack.
