Doctor's complaint: Police beat me when Prime Minister Edi Rama's car was passing by

"I, who had marks on my body, was accused of raping the policewoman. The prosecution did not conduct an expert examination on the policewoman, but only her colleagues examined her ," said the doctor, adding that the case went to trial only against her. The police were not investigated, despite the fact that the doctor had physical injuries!
"I was imprisoned by the police officers of police station no. 2 in Tirana. They put me in a cell from March 5 to March 8, 2024, accusing me of raping a police officer, Ersuida Marku ," says the doctor.
According to her, on March 5, 2024, near her workplace, Prime Minister Edi Rama's escort passed and several police officers approached her brother's car. She further claims that she was on the sidewalk and a police officer forcefully hit the hood of her brother's vehicle and asked her to leave.
"While I was trying to understand what was happening, several people immediately approached and after a verbal altercation, they escorted us to the police station, forcibly pushing us into our car and taking control of it," the doctor claims.
She adds that during the escort to police station number 2 and its premises, violence was exerted against her by police officers Ersuida Marku and Edvin Zhupa. "These police officers, in addition to violating the rules and laws, together with their colleagues manipulated the evidence and accused me of violently resisting one of them ," she says.
She adds that there was no evidence to support the accusations against her, only the false testimonies of seven police officers.
"Meanwhile, the forensic examination has shown that I suffered numerous injuries during the escort and no footage from the police station's security cameras has been made available. Also, none of the footage from the scene shows the violence that was allegedly committed by me against the police officer, nor has the police officer conducted a forensic examination to confirm her injuries ," the doctor claims.
But, the paradox is that despite all this evidence, she was accused of violence, when there were no signs on her body! "Meanwhile, the police did not conduct any expertise and it turned out that she had been raped ," she continues.
Fiksi analyzed security camera footage from several businesses on March 5, 2024, which does not show the doctor's violence against the police at any point. The doctor says that, despite the fact that she had signs, no police officer was investigated after her lawyer Gjergj Nikolla withdrew the complaint while she was still in prison.
"From this situation, the Rovena Zoto prosecution has filed a charge against me for exercising violence against a police officer, Ersuida Marku, referring to article 236/2 of the Criminal Code. An article that carries a maximum of 7 years in prison. From the investigations and evidence administered in the file, there is no evidence to prove that there was physical violence against the police officer. I did not exercise violence against the police, despite the verbal conflict.
"Also, during the investigations and the court process, we expressed concerns about violations of my rights, such as violent escorting. I requested to be questioned by prosecutor Rovena Zoto and raised allegations of abuse and violence by the police during the escorting and stay at the police station, but none of them were taken into account ," says the doctor.
Meanwhile, the file also includes the complaints she made to the Police Supervision Agency, but again no investigation against the police officers.
"The case against her went to court by the preliminary judge Artan Hajredinaj, who, although he had the opportunity to review the evidence presented, decided that the case should go to trial on the merits. I demand that any manipulation of evidence be revealed and that it be ensured that the police officers are held accountable for what they have caused and that all those involved in this abusive process are held accountable ," she concludes./ TCH
