New details/ At the time of his arrest, Astrit Avdyli was carrying a weapon

The "head" of Shijak's criminal group, Astrit Avdylaj, was arrested today (June 29) in his apartment more than a month after SPAK issued 50 arrest warrants for the crackdown on 7 criminal gangs.

At the time of his handcuffing, Astrit Avdyli was in his house in Shijak, and a pistol-type firearm was also found on him.

Astrit Avdyli was wanted as part of the SPAK mega-operation where 50 arrest warrants were issued.

We recall that the Special Prosecutor's Office issued 50 arrest warrants for persons suspected of being part of 7 criminal gangs, of which 14 were executed in Albania, and 6 more in Italy, Germany, Spain and Belgium. The "Revenge" operation took place on May 17 and 18, and a good part of the persons against whom arrest warrants were issued have been abroad for a long time.

The list of wanted persons also includes the former socialist deputy Arben Ndoka, suspected of being the leader of one of the groups, as well as the brother and relative of another majority deputy, Eduard Ndreca.

According to SPAK, the characteristic of these groups is brutal violence in committing crimes. Investigations have revealed the connections between them, the alliances and enmities that have been the source of murders and attempted murders, among the members of the groups.

During the operation for the execution of the arrest warrants, checks were carried out in 50 apartments in Tirana, Durrës, Vlora, Shkodër, Lezhë, Rëshen, Kurbin, Fushë-Krujë and Krujë, where the bases of the groups were.

The Special Prosecutor's Office announced that it has seized armored vehicles, jewelry, gold bars and monetary values, for a total of nearly 4.5 million euros, of which 3 million euros are cash.

Who is Astrit Avdyli?

Astrit Avdyli was on the list of the most wanted people by Albanian justice in 2013, after he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for murder.

Of Cham origin, Astrit Avdyli is known as the "Wise One", because unlike the others of the group, Astrit solved matters without violence.

Shijak's group is known as a group composed of violent people. The father of three children was involved in drug and cocaine trafficking in the 90s. Over the years, he became even more powerful, with strong connections.

The brothers Avdyli, Shkëlqim, Jasin, Astrit and Altin are accused of murder, prostitution, drug trafficking and several other criminal offences.

The murder of 1996, Astrit Avdyli took revenge for his cousin

In 1996, Dritan Avdyli, the first cousin of Astri Avdyli, the head of the gang, was shot dead.

He imposed a fine on the businessman Tefik Hyka, the owner of the brick factory in Vlora.

Dritan Avdyli was called by a Shijak associate of Tefik Hyka to go to the "Four Roads of Shijaku" area to get the money he had asked Tefik, but the moment he and his friend arrived at the bar, he was hit by a barrage of bullets from a contract killer from Tirana, Durim Kusi.

Astrit Avdyli, the son of Dritan's uncle, previously convicted of prostitution in Italy, takes revenge by killing the person who ambushed Dritan in the center of Shijak. Meanwhile, the spiral of revenge did not stop there, as Astrit's brother Shkëlqimi killed Durim Kusi in Tirana. Meanwhile, Jasmin Avdyli was previously convicted in Italy after being involved in the murder of an Italian marshal. He had been released from prison for several years and was living in Shijak.
