Execution of businessman Mondi Mëhalla in Elbasan / Court leaves Nevzat Spaho in prison

The judicial developments for the murder of businessman Edmond (Mondi) Mëhalla, which occurred on November 30, entered a new phase today, as the Elbasan Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction held a hearing to determine the security measure against the arrested Nevzat Spaho, suspected of being an accomplice in the execution by firearm of the 43-year-old.

The session opened at 10:30, behind closed doors, according to the court's decision. The Elbasan Prosecutor's Office had filed a request the day before with the object of "validation of detention, assignment of security measures", requesting the arrest of Spaho in prison.

After reviewing the acts of the file and the claims of the parties, Judge Elis Dine decided to accept the request of Prosecutor Gjergji Ceka, assessing the detention of Nevzat Spaho as legal and leaving in force the security measure "prison arrest".

The defense attorney and the suspect himself opposed the measure, seeking a lighter alternative and claiming that the detention was unfounded, but the court rejected these arguments, emphasizing that the evidence administered so far justifies his detention.
