NAMES/ Cultivation and trafficking of narcotics, GJKKO gives sentences to the accused

The Special Court has acquitted former police officer Adriatik Logli, who was charged in a large-scale operation against a structured criminal group involved in the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics. The operation led to the arrest of over 40 people.
In the same trial, Xhuliano Aliu was sentenced to 5 years in prison, while Kristi Dautaj was sentenced to 8 years in prison. This Friday, in a separate session, the verdict was given for three other defendants: Bujar Brahak was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while Hertjan Pjetërgjokaj and Elton Ukaj were sentenced to 8 years each. The latter two received a one-third reduction in sentence due to the shortened trial.
Among the accused were Fejzo Meçaj, a police officer at the Tepelena Police Station, and Adriatik Logli, an officer at the Gjirokastër Local Police Directorate, suspected of abuse of office. Initially, the security measure "arrest with imprisonment" was imposed on them.
According to investigations by the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), 13 criminal episodes involving trafficking, production and sale of narcotics, as well as cultivation of narcotic plants have been identified in Vlora, Tepelena, Durrës, Tirana and Lezha. The activity is suspected to have been carried out by five different criminal groups during the period March–November 2020.
