Attacks on Osman Stafa, the Union of Journalists reacts harshly: Violation of the freedom of the journalist in charge of his duty

The Albanian Journalists' Union has reacted to the attacks on journalist Osman Stafa, which occurred yesterday after the closing of the protest, an event for which it demands a full investigation.
"The Albanian Journalists' Union reacts to the provocation of two individuals on 21.06.2026, at around 18.00, against journalist Osman Stafa, who has reported the case to the state police.
Aggressive individuals have attacked the journalist with insults, insults, and even violated his physical integrity, due to his duty.
"UGSH demands from these authorities a prompt investigation of the case and the clarification of the perpetrators' intent as well as legal punishment," UGSH wrote in its online response.
Furthermore, UGSH requests that editorial offices delete all posts made online, where media people, due to their duties, are offended on social networks.
Likewise, UGSH demands the intervention of the relevant authorities and the taking of immediate measures in such cases, when a journalist or media person is attacked, insulted or harassed because of his duty.
"UGSH first of all addresses with understanding and responsibility the editorial boards of online media to clean all blogs from such derogatory acts against colleagues and the media.
"We also direct such an appeal to the subjects or entities responsible for intervening in this alarming level of ethical pollution and defamation of the names and images of journalists who are attacked and virtually defamed because of their duty, thoughts and free opinions," the UGSH response continues.

Statement by the Albanian Journalists Union
The attack and aggressive act against journalist Osman Stafa is a violation of the freedom of the journalist in the line of duty.
The Albanian Journalists' Union reacts to the provocation of two individuals on 21.06.2026, at around 18.00, against journalist Osman Stafa, who has reported the case to the state police.
Aggressive individuals have attacked the journalist with insults, insults, and even violated his physical integrity, due to his duty.
UGSH demands from these authorities a prompt investigation of the case and clarification of the perpetrators' intent as well as legal punishment.
Our organization has been following with concern these days frequent cases of verbal aggression by many individuals against the media and journalists who share their free reporting and different opinions.
From the observation of UGSH throughout this week, on social networks and blogs of traditional media, in their online versions, an increase in verbal aggression, attacks, insults, intimidation, defamatory accusations and flagrant blackmail against journalists has been observed.
There are dozens and hundreds of such attacks in texts published on the official online pages of television media where journalists, opinion writers or representatives of the Albanian editor express different perspectives on political developments and the reality of anti-government protests in the country.
This aggression by party fanatics or political leaders, by doctrinaires or even various militants, by radicals, anonymous and pseudonymous commentators against journalists and the media, is intolerable.
UGSH first of all addresses the understanding and editorial responsibility of online media to clean all blogs from such acts of desecration towards colleagues and the media. We also address such an appeal to the subjects or entities responsible for intervening in this alarming level of ethical pollution and desecration of the names and images of journalists who are attacked and desecrated virtually because of their duty, thoughts and free opinions.
