Migrant trafficking gang busted in London, 3 Albanians sentenced to prison

Three Albanian citizens, part of a London-based criminal group, have been sentenced to prison by British justice after it was proven that they were involved in the trafficking of immigrants to the United Kingdom, in exchange for payments amounting to up to 11 thousand pounds per person.

Specifically, we are talking about citizens, Toni Liko , 42 years old, who was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison, the same as Klement Gjika , 44 years old. While Stelian Bodnariu , 37 years old , was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison.

According to foreign media, the investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police Service uncovered an organized scheme, where immigrants were transported through the M25 motorway network and then stopped at various points, mainly at petrol stations. There, they were transferred from one vehicle to another, before being taken to London.

According to authorities, during 18 months of activity, the gang is suspected of having smuggled at least 20 Albanian citizens into the country, although the real number is believed to be higher.

The scheme was uncovered through the analysis of security camera footage, vehicle tracking and the use of surveillance methods, which led to the identification of the group's leaders. Investigators also secured communications between smugglers and heavy vehicle drivers, determining meeting points and the method of transporting the migrants.

According to the police, this criminal activity was primarily motivated by financial gain, while trafficked persons often ended up being further exploited by criminal networks.

The three defendants were found guilty of facilitating the unlawful entry into the UK. They were arrested in June 2025 and, after a seven-week trial, were found guilty of their criminal activity.
