"Green Card" facilitates the movement of Albanian citizens to Montenegro

From February 1, 2025, Albanian citizens will have the opportunity to travel to Montenegro with the "Green Card" insurance policy for cars with a reduced premium of 50 Euros, with a 1-year term.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Joint Committee of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), for taking interim measures to facilitate the free movement of funds, the Financial Supervisory Authority undertook a consultation and coordination process with the Albanian Security Bureau (BSHS) to make this decision.

Based on the decision of the BSHS, Albanian citizens can obtain the "Green Card" insurance policy with a validity of 12 months from the date of issue, which exclusively covers the territory of Montenegro. The insurance policy can be purchased at the border crossing points of Muriqan, Hani i Hoti, Grabomi and Vermosh.

The Green Card is an international insurance document that covers the responsibilities of drivers of vehicles with Albanian license plates in the event of an accident while driving outside the country's territory.

This facilitating measure is expected to have a direct impact on the intensification of cross-border economic exchanges with Montenegro.
