Took money and fish for a job/ The Supreme Court upholds the sentence for former Deputy Minister Rovena Voda

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by former Deputy Minister of Interior, Rovena Voda, upholding the decision of the Special Court of Appeal (GJKKO) that sentenced her to 10 months in prison for exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions.
The decision was made in the Deliberation Chamber, where the trial panel decided to reject the appeal, confirming the former senior official's guilt. In addition to the prison sentence, the Court also upheld the removal of the right to exercise public functions for 5 years.
According to SPAK, Voda accepted monetary values to influence the employment of Florinda Bey in the ministry. Referring to the investigation of the Special Prosecution Office, three meetings were held between Voda, Bey and Majlinda Hasani in February-March 2020 at the Ministry of Interior and in Durrës.
They were wiretapped talking about giving Voda an envelope with 1,000 euros and were filmed in a bar in Durrës, while giving the deputy minister a mobile phone. Regarding the third episode, SPAK says that Voda went to the port in the Ministry of Interior vehicle that she was carrying as a senior official and her driver to pick up a crate of fish.
