"I'm fine. Thank you everyone," this was the message displayed on the profile of Ilaria Sula, a 22-year-old Albanian, to reassure her family and friends, who had been looking for her for days.

But behind those words was an attempt to deceive her relatives, as it was not she who had written it, but her ex-partner, Mark Samson, the 23-year-old of Filipino origin, who has admitted to murdering his ex-girlfriend, whom he put in a suitcase and threw into a ravine.

Italian media write that this was an attempt by him to gain time, perhaps to avoid the discovery of the incident, but calming family and friends had the opposite effect.

Investigators have now confirmed that the message was written by Samson himself, who then threw the girl's cell phone into a canal.

Even her friends have expressed that this post increased their concern about her condition and that something was wrong.

'When we saw that post on Instagram, we knew something was wrong,' says Adrian, one of her friends. 'That 'thank you everyone, I'm fine' wasn't from Ilaria. She would never write it like that. We had our suspicions about Mark, after the disappearance, he was cold, distant, seemed worried. He always said the same thing: 'The police are taking care of it, calm down'. I suspected him from the beginning. He had planned everything,' the young man said.

Ilaria's friend also said that she would not make such a post while all her friends and family were worried, as she would have spoken to them. He also says that the perpetrator of the murder, who was his former friend, had asked him to meet, but they did not meet, as he later confessed to the crime.

"We immediately realized that it wasn't her who was writing those messages. Ilaria would never leave those she loved worried. A few days before the body was found, Mark had written to me on Instagram to comment on a video I had posted. On Monday, in his last message, he asked me to meet. Then he didn't write to me anymore and had admitted to the murder," Adriani said.

The young man also spoke to the Italian media about how he knew Mark. According to him, he had never shown a dark side before and that he had not noticed a disturbing relationship between Mark and Ilaria.

"He had never shown his dark side." An ambiguous murder, even for those who knew Mark closely. We worked together at McDonald's. He and Ilaria became a couple right around that time. He had never given any worrying signals, no strange words. I met him outside of work, at their birthday parties. He had never shown his dark side. No one could have imagined what he would do," he says.

At the end of his statement, the 22-year-old Albanian's friend demanded justice for her murder, not sparing Mark's parents, who are said to have been in their son's apartment when he committed the crime and may have helped him hide her dead body.

"I hope justice is served! And I hope Mark's parents pay, too, if they helped him," he said, while also dedicating a few words to his friend, whom he said was a girl with a strong character.

"Ilaria was an extraordinary girl, careful at work, excellent in her studies, stubborn, but very loving. She had a strong character, and if she knew she was right, she fought until the end. No one deserves the end she had," he confessed.

An autopsy conducted at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Sapienza University by order of the Rome prosecutor's office revealed that Ilaria Sula was stabbed three times in the neck and died of hemorrhagic shock.

The autopsy cannot determine the day and time of death, as further tests will be needed, the results of which will arrive in the coming weeks.
