Escaped from prison, Daut Laze's testimony after arrest revealed: I hid in the mosque from Muslim believers

Daut Laze, who had been on the run since February 4 after managing to escape from Shënkoll prison, was placed in handcuffs on Monday evening (April 14) by officers of Police Station No. 6.
According to his testimony, from the moment of his escape he remained hidden in Tirana, mainly in the Fresku, Kombinati and Astir areas.
The 49-year-old said that he took advantage of the month of Ramadan to hide in the mosque. He added that Muslim believers hid him.
Immediately after being handcuffed, Daut Laze was taken to the Lezha District Directorate and is expected to be questioned by the Prison Control Service.
Police sources have confirmed that officers from Police Station No. 6 had been guarding Daut Laze's apartment in Astir for two weeks after they had information that he would go to the apartment.
To avoid being recognized, the 49-year-old had shaved his beard and was wearing a hat.
"The services of Police Commissariat No. 6 have arrested citizen Daut Laze, 49 years old, who escaped from the Special Medical Institution at the Lezha Penitentiary Institution, on February 4, 2025.
