The recent execution in the city of Vlora, which is suspected to have been ordered by Albanian criminal organizations in Dubai, appears to have been well-organized and with strong support.
The State Police announced today that one of the contributors to the assassination is Tropoja resident Eris Mehmeti, who has been arrested.
Alfapress.al has verified that the young man is the son of former Democratic Party MP in the 1997-2000 legislature, Xhevdet Mehmeti, who, after Sali Berisha's return in 2005, also held the position of Secretary General at the Ministry of Transport, when it was headed by the late Sokol Olldalshi.
After Sali Berisha's Non Grata declaration, former Tropoja MP Mehmeti was one of the main contributors and exponents of Berisha's "Foltoresa" and then "Ritthemelim". He is currently a key figure in the DP and in this campaign, he is leading one of the electoral headquarters in Tirana.
We recall that a few months ago he and other DP officials were denounced by journalist Basir Çollaku (currently a candidate for MP in Dibër) as organizers of the manipulation of the elections for mayor in branch no. 2, Tirana.
At that time, Basir Çollaku, through a status on social networks, denounced what he considered to be the farce that was taking place in the internal elections of the Democratic Party. Çollaku took as an example the elections taking place in Unit 2 in Tirana, which was led by his wife, Irma Marku.
According to him, the goal was to manipulate the primaries that were held later in the DP and the interference of those he calls “the fat ones” of the central branch. He denounced in the status meetings without quorum and the flagrant interference of the working group leader, Mimoza Hajdarmataj, MP Jorida Tabaku, former MP Xhevdet Mehmeti, as well as Ms. Mirela Tabaku, Sokol Allaraj and Anisa Kadësha.
The working group, according to Çollaku, was rejected by some members who did not accept the farce and were replaced with verbal decisions by other people.
How did Eris Mehmeti help in the Vlora assassination attempt?
Eris Mehmetaj, a resident of Tropoja who was arrested by the State Police after being accused of having assisted in the execution of Renato Hoxhaj, on the morning of April 27.
According to sources informed by the Blues, the investigative group so far suspects that Mehmetaj provided the vehicle to the perpetrator of Hoxhaj's murder.
Eris Mehemtaj, it turns out, had extended his activity to the sale and purchase of properties, while it is said that he was also a close friend of Roan Brahimi, a name known to the public, as a year ago he was executed in the middle of Athens, while just a few days ago his father, Gjovalin Prendi, was also killed.
Investigations show that Mehmetaj had handed over the vehicle to the perpetrator before the murder of the 58-year-old, while the license plates had also been changed in order to avoid identification by the police.
Eris Mehmetaj was arrested the night before, while police seized his phone, inside which they say they found important evidence for the investigation and solving the murder of Renato Hoxhaj. It is suspected that the latter's murder was ordered by a criminal group operating from the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, from a look at Mehmetaj's social media profile, not more than a month ago he posted photos from Dubai, where his luxurious life is evident.
Renato Hoxhaj, 58, was killed on the morning of April 27 near his apartment in the “Hajro Çakërri” neighborhood in Vlora. He was executed with three bullets, two in the head and one in the body and unfortunately died immediately at the scene. It was his cohabitant who heard the shots and after going outside found her partner lying in the street and “bathed” in blood.
The 58-year-old worked as a guard at a construction site near his home. The police have so far questioned five people in connection with this incident, including his cohabitant, Klodiana Rakipaj./ alfapress.al
