Caught transporting 7 Bangladeshis by car to Kosovo, 40-year-old arrested in Gjirokastra

The State Police has successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Attempt 1", arresting a 40-year-old man in flagrante delicto who was transporting seven immigrants from Bangladesh for payment, with the aim of their illegal crossing to Kosovo.
As part of the operation, specialists for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking in cooperation with the Traffic Police Sector of the Gjirokastër DVP, arrested on the "Tepelena-Krahës" road axis, at the exit of the city of Memaliaj, citizen EM, 40 years old, resident of Tirana. He was stopped while transporting illegal immigrants in a "Volkswagen" type vehicle.
During the search, the vehicle, a mobile phone and a sum of money, which were suspected to have been derived from this criminal activity, were seized.
The investigative materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra for further legal action.
The Gjirokastra Police emphasize that they will continue operations to crack down on networks that help immigrants cross state borders illegally, and appeal to citizens not to get involved in this criminal activity that is severely punished by Albanian law.
