Arian Ndoni was surprised when he received a wedding invitation in his mailbox this Saturday.
So far, everything is normal, as he likes to correspond with foreign friends he met during their stay in Albania, but what makes this case unusual is that... the wedding took place in June 2011.
"I was surprised when I saw the invitation. A wedding invitation coming from the USA, but when I read the date, I couldn't believe it. The marriage took place in 2011. Today we are in 2025. I only found it in my mailbox today. 14 years late! Even if they had put it in a bottle and thrown it into the sea, like in the old days, maybe it would have arrived sooner," Arian Ndoni recounts, not without humor.
He says that the invitation clearly bears the transit stamp on the back, which shows the date of arrival in Albania, in January 2011.
Enough time to organize to attend their coronation celebration. So, the invitation arrived on time, but something happened with the postal service from Tirana to Durrës and the invitation got lost for 14 years and only now has it found its way to his mailbox.
In the age of technology and instant communication, it seems that invitations-postcards can still travel at a "romantic" pace, but completely out of time.
"They got married, maybe they had children, maybe they are... I don't know, but it's not correct. I just received the invitation and this situation has also affected communication and friendship relationships for those of us who still value this way of communication ," says Ndoni./ Tch
