The fire situation in Lura National Park is worsening.

Journalist Enver Doçi reports that the fire that broke out about 2 weeks ago near the flower lake in Lura has grown to large proportions as it spread to Zall Gjoçaj.

The flames have so far burned dozens of hectares of black pine forests, as well as other vegetation.

Although dozens of forces from the Dibër ADZM, the Dibër Municipality Fire Service, the Forest Service, other employees and the armed forces are working from the ground, it has not been possible to neutralize the fire.

The strong wind and rugged mountainous terrain have been a disadvantage for the groups engaged in extinguishing the fire.

The flames have moved to Zall Gjoçaj where they risk burning the wintering barns of small livestock, cattle and over 100 beehives.

Local authorities are requesting air support as it is impossible to neutralize the fire by land.
Given that the Lura lakes are located in the area, but also those of Mount Balgjaj a short distance away, helicopter intervention from the air could be effective in order to prevent increased economic damage to the Lura National Park.
