Tesla store in Rome on fire: 16 cars destroyed/ Elon Musk reacts: It's

Melted, charred – sixteen Tesla cars were destroyed by flames overnight in Rome. Elon Musk reacted on his X platform, the former Twitter, writing just one word: "Terrorism". This is how the American billionaire, owner of the company that produces luxury electric cars, reacted to the news posted on social networks by a user, writes La Repubblica.

The fire, which is suspected to be intentional, broke out during the night between Sunday and Monday, March 1, at around 4:30 a.m. The cars were engulfed in flames, which also affected a tent and the exterior of several offices at the Tesla Center, the brand's only center in Rome, located on the outskirts of the Italian capital. In total, sixteen cars were completely burned, all parked near charging points and just a few steps from the main showroom on Serracapriola Street, in the Torrenova area.

The incident is being investigated by Digos and the possibility that an anarchist group was behind the attack is not ruled out. Rome police investigators are analyzing security camera footage.

The flames started at several different points within the parking lot, directly above the vehicles, a detail that strengthens the hypothesis that this was a well-organized and premeditated attack.

Tesla has not yet given a clear position, but its representative in Italy, Marco Santini, stated: "We are aware of the incident in Rome. We are actively investigating the event and will cooperate with local authorities to discover its causes."

In support of Elon Musk, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and League leader Matteo Salvini also reacted, writing on social media: "Violence, insults, attacks and arson. There is a lot of unjustified hatred against Tesla. This period of hatred and conflict must end as soon as possible."

Regarding the fire: during the night, agents from the Casilino police station and scientific police experts arrived at the scene to analyze the evidence and look for any possible ignition mechanism.

The first to intervene were firefighters, with two water tankers. They reported that the flames spread very quickly and with high intensity, leaving none of the Teslas parked in the area to survive.

Meanwhile, other cars parked a few meters away and those inside the showroom remained untouched – a fact that supports the hypothesis of a deliberate attack.

If confirmed as criminal arson, this would be the first attack against Tesla in Italy.

Similar events have occurred in recent weeks in Germany, France and the United States.

This incident follows a series of acts of vandalism against Tesla cars in Rome over the last two months.

At least four times, in different areas of the city, graffiti has been written on Musk's electric cars: "Fuck Elon Musk" – incidents reported in the San Giovanni neighborhoods, the center, and twice in Ostia.

On March 22, also in Rome, another major fire destroyed at least 30 Ford cars at a dealership in Castel Giubileo. The flames started in several hybrid vehicles and also engulfed the offices and repair shop.
