"Gold Card", Trump "sells" US citizenship for $5 million, introduces the card that opens doors to millionaires

US President Donald Trump has officially introduced the new project called "gold card", an initiative that allows wealthy foreign citizens to gain permanent residence in the United States in exchange for a $ 5 million investment. This project, which was announced in February by the Oval Office of the White House, has now become a reality.
According to Trump, this card will be a faster and more exclusive alternative to the traditional Green Card, accelerating the path to American citizenship for those with high financial means.
"There's a green card, now there's going to be a gold card," Trump declared during a trip on Air Force One, pitching the idea as a way to bring foreign capital to the US.
The American president's stated goal is to attract capital to the United States at all costs.
The design of the new card is gold-colored, engraved with Donald Trump's facial portrait, the president's official signature and the words "The Trump Card". After the presentation, the tycoon explained that it will go on sale in the coming weeks: "We will be able to sell millions of these. Even for Russian oligarchs, maybe: I know some Russian oligarchs who are very good people," the president said.
The project is expected to come into effect in the coming weeks, while official details are expected to be made public soon.
But what does the “Gold Card” offer?
Permanent residency in the US for investors who pay $5 million.
A more streamlined process towards American citizenship, without following the usual multi-year path.
Exemption from certain taxes, including those on income earned outside the US.
According to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, this card will replace the existing EB-5 program, which currently requires investments of about $800,000 to $1 million in projects that create jobs in the US.
Trump expressed optimism about the success of this program, claiming that millions of such cards could be sold, including to international businessmen and oligarchs.
The initiative has sparked debate, as it is seen as a way to "buy" US citizenship at a time when ordinary immigrants face lengthy and complicated procedures. Critics see the policy as exclusionary, which could open the door to foreign influence in American politics and the economy.
However, supporters argue that the initiative could bring increased foreign investment and help the country's economy.
