7.2 magnitude earthquake hits Japan, warning issued for...

A powerful earthquake struck Japan this afternoon, raising the alarm for possible tsunamis and material damage.
The strength of the seismic tremors was initially reported to be of magnitude 6.7 and was recorded in the north of the Asian country according to initial reports.
But then authorities confirmed the magnitude as 7.2, also issuing a tsunami alert.
The tremor was recorded in Aomori Prefecture, the northernmost region in mainland Japan.
"A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 on the Richter scale occurred after 3:00 p.m. (European time) in Aomori Prefecture in northern Japan," the media reported.
There is no information yet about casualties or material damage, but panic is high due to the strength of the tremors and the possibility of a tsunami.
