Israeli army launches investigation into Gaza Catholic Church attack: Incident due to targeting error.

According to a post on Facebook, the Israeli army says it is examining the causes.

The Israeli military says that an initial investigation into the deadly attack on the Holy Family Church in Gaza City indicates that the incident occurred as a result of a missile misfire.

"The cause of the incident is under investigation," she said in a post on X.

As we have reported, Israel has regularly struck religious sites throughout Gaza in its war against the enclave, including churches and mosques.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, previously told Vatican News that an Israeli tank hit the church "directly."
