Iran-Israel conflict, Vučić: Serbia has stopped arms exports

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić declared on June 23 that Serbia is “no longer exporting” weapons. Asked by reporters whether Serbia has chosen sides in the Israel-Iran conflict by exporting ammunition to Israel, the Serbian president said that the country has “suspended all exports” and that it is only sending ammunition to Serbian army barracks.

" We are not exporting anything now. We have stopped everything and, if something is to be allowed, special and specific decisions must be made. Then, we will see how we will act, in accordance with the interests of Serbia. The highest state bodies will be informed about this ," he said.

After the meeting of the expanded collegium of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, Vučić said that "it is one thing" that Serbia, after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, had allowed the export of ammunition to that country.

" But the situation today is different. We have now completely stopped all exports and only send them to our army ," the head of the Serbian government added.

Responding to criticism of arms exports, Vučić said that he cares about the security of the state, but also about workers in the defense industry, where ammunition that Serbia previously exported abroad is produced.

Israel launched an attack on Iran on June 13, striking several locations, including nuclear facilities and residential areas in Tehran, killing several senior commanders of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), nuclear scientists and civilians.

Iran responded by launching drones and ballistic missiles at military centers and air bases in Israel. The US became involved in the conflict on June 22. President Donald Trump announced that American bombers had struck three Iranian nuclear facilities.
