South Korea/ Student attacks school staff, six injured

A student at a school in Cheongju, South Korea, attacked school staff with a knife this morning, injuring six people before attempting suicide by jumping into a reservoir near the school.

The incident occurred in a classroom at around 8:41 a.m. local time, when a student with "special needs," enrolled in the second year and attending a regular class, attacked school staff with a knife.

According to the Chungbuk Fire Department, the school principal, an administrative official and a facility employee suffered injuries to the chest, abdomen and back. They were transported to the hospital.

Other people, including the perpetrator, suffered minor injuries and were taken to health centers.

All the injured are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. Police have launched investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
