Albin Kurti accepts the authenticity of the prank call: Reconfirmed...

The office of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reacted after the publication of a prank call from two Russian comedians, who called Kurti claiming that he was talking to the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics.

The statement states that the prank by the Russian comedians occurred on February 11, a few days after the elections, and the Prime Minister's Office accepts the full authenticity of the call and explains that, due to the influx of communications after the elections, the call was not immediately verified, and Kurti spoke to the comedians as if he were speaking to the president of Latvia.

The Prime Minister's Office says that, despite the fact that this call is private, it reflects the Prime Minister's principled positions, which are the same in both public and private statements.

Full statement from the Prime Minister's Office

"The incident occurred on February 11, shortly after the February 9 elections, at a time when Prime Minister Kurti was receiving numerous congratulatory messages and calls for the election results.

Due to time constraints, it was not always possible to conduct full verifications of every call.

This unfortunate incident reinforces what we have known for a long time: Russia is obsessed with Kosovo and continues to have our country as its target.

During the election campaign for the February 9 parliamentary elections, Sputnik Serbia and Russia Today (RT) published over 60 fake news and disinformation articles, interfering in our democratic process, as documented by the EU Election Observation Mission.

"While we regret that Prime Minister Albin Kurti became the target of such a call, this episode reconfirms Prime Minister Kurti's principled and consistent positions on key issues, both in public and private conversations," the Kosovo Prime Minister's office said in a statement.
