"I thought Meloni was brave," Trump: Pope doesn't know what's going on in Iran

US President Donald Trump has criticized Italy for not helping him in the situation with Iran, as well as Pope Leo XIV after his comments on the war.
In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Trump praised Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, emphasizing that he thought she was brave enough to act.
“Do the Italians like the fact that your prime minister is not giving us any help in getting oil?” Trump asked, adding, “ Do the people like her? I can’t imagine. I’m shocked by her. I thought she was brave, but I was wrong. ”
Asked if he had spoken to Meloni, he said: “No. She simply says that Italy does not want to get involved. Even though Italy gets its oil from there, even though America is very important to Italy, he does not think that Italy should get involved. He thinks that America should do the work for him.”
According to him, it is unacceptable that she does not care about the fact that Iran has nuclear weapons, and that it could blow up Italy in two minutes.
"It's what's unacceptable, because she doesn't care if Iran has a nuclear weapon and would blow up Italy in two minutes if she could. She's not the same person anymore and Italy will never be the same country again. Immigration is killing Italy and all of Europe."
Trump also reiterated that Europe is "destroying itself from within" with its immigration and energy policies.
"They pay the highest energy costs in the world and they are not even prepared to fight for the Strait of Hormuz, where they get it from. They depend on Donald Trump to keep it open," Trump added.
When asked if he had asked Italy to use minelayers, the US president said: "I asked them to send whatever they wanted, but they don't want to because NATO is a paper tiger."
Regarding Pope Leo and his call for peace, Trump claims that the Pope does not understand that Iran poses a nuclear threat.
"He doesn't understand and shouldn't talk about war, because he has no idea what's going on. He doesn't understand that 42,000 protesters were killed in Iran last month."
He was also asked if he was disappointed by Orban's loss:
"He was a friend of mine. It wasn't my choice, but he was my friend, a good man. He did a good job with immigration. He didn't let people come and destroy his country like Italy did."
