Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine for "not being in a hurry" to end the war peacefully, in statements on Saturday, a day before Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky's crucial meeting with his US counterpart, Donald Trump.

Russian news agency TASS reported that Putin said his country sees that Kiev is "in no hurry" to end the war peacefully.

He added that if Ukraine does not want to resolve the war peacefully, Russia will achieve all its goals "by force."

Putin also stressed that the West offers Ukraine favorable conditions in the areas of security, reconstruction of the country and relations with Russia, but Kiev does not want a peaceful solution.

Meanwhile, he also said that "the Kiev regime itself started the war in 2014 and Russia is only trying to end it."

Putin emphasized that “it all started with a coup in Kiev in 2014.” According to him, Russia even demanded at that time to grant the legitimate right to self-determination to the residents of southeastern Ukraine, who did not recognize the results of the coup, but Moscow was not listened to.
