Netanyahu: I speak regularly with Putin! This relationship serves our vital

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel's international standing in a speech to parliament, rejecting criticism from the opposition. He stressed that he maintains "constant communication" with Russian President Vladimir Putin "to protect Israel's vital interests" and that the country remains "stronger than ever."

Responding to opposition accusations that Israel’s international standing has been weakened by the Gaza war, Netanyahu declared before the Knesset that “Israel is the strongest power in the Middle East.” He began his speech by challenging the very title of the discussion: “What supposed collapse? Those who say this are far from reality.”

Speaking about the country's international relations, Netanyahu stressed that "many countries and world leaders are looking to us," while acknowledging that "challenges" still exist. He cited the rise of anti-Semitism in the West, which he linked to "radical Muslim minorities" and "anti-Semitic incitement" that, he said, is fueled by social media and "anti-Zionist governments and organizations."

Netanyahu stressed that Israel is “fighting anti-Semitism all over the world” and that the government has allocated “more than two billion shekels to the Foreign Ministry to combat this propaganda.” He added that “new methods” must be adopted to confront the phenomenon and called for the country’s “great achievements” to be recognized.

In this context, he also mentioned the visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, which according to Netanyahu was carried out at the request of the German leader and brought about an important agreement for military cooperation between the two countries.

Netanyahu paid special attention to Russia, stating: “We maintain constant communication with another world power – Russia. I speak regularly with President Putin, and this personal relationship over many years serves to protect our vital interests.”
