"We do not give information to any government!" - WhatsApp denies

Technology company Meta has officially reacted to the Iranian government's call for citizens to delete the WhatsApp application from their phones.

In a statement to the media, Meta, which is the parent company of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, denies Iran's claims that the app's users' data is shared with Israel.

"We are concerned that these false reports could serve as an excuse to block our services, precisely at a time when people need them most ," the company said in a statement.

According to the statement, all messages that users send to family or friends on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, meaning that no one except the sender and recipient has access to their content.

"We do not provide massive information to any government. For more than a decade, Meta has been publishing transparent reports showing the limited cases when information has been requested from WhatsApp ," the company spokesperson explained.
