Support for Le Pen increases after conviction, polls show 49% of French want her to run in next election

Almost one in two French people, 49%, want Marine Le Pen to run in the next presidential election, according to an Ifop-Fiducial poll for Sud Radio conducted after her conviction in a case involving MEPs' assistants.
Within a month, the percentage of French people who want Le Pen to run has increased by 7%.
At the same time, 51% of respondents do not want the leader of the Rally National (RN) party to be able to run for the Elysee, a percentage that has decreased by seven points compared to a previous poll conducted at the end of February.
However, according to the same poll, only 37% of French people believe that Marine Le Pen will be able to run, a percentage that has fallen by 37 points in a month.
Only those who say they support the RN (69%) believe that their party's candidate will be able to run.
The poll was conducted online on April 1 and 2 among a representative sample of 1,000 people aged 18 and over. The margin of error is 2.8 to 3.1 points.
