Pedro Sanchez responds to Trump's embargo threat: Spain says "no to war"

Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has responded to President Donald Trump's threat to cut off trade with his country because of his stance on war with Iran.
In a video released by his office today, Sanchez claimed that when it comes to the current conflict, Spain's position has been "clear and consistent" and in line with the positions taken on the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
"The position of the Spanish government can be summed up in these words: no to war," he said.
"First, we are against the destruction of the international order, which protects us all, especially the most vulnerable, the civilian population. And second, the world's problems cannot be solved with conflict and bombing," Sanchez added.
Yesterday, during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump criticized Spain's stance on the conflict, calling it "terrible." "We will cut off all trade with Spain," Trump threatened.
France has rushed to express its support for its EU neighbor, with French President Emmanuel Macron calling Sanchez today to affirm "France's European solidarity in response to the latest threats of economic austerity," the Elysee Palace said.
