The bodies of 87 Iranian Navy sailors have been found after a warship sank in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Sri Lanka, the country's police and military officials said today.
A US Navy submarine torpedoed an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed earlier on Wednesday.
Searches are continuing for 61 Iranian Navy sailors who are still missing, military and police officials added.
A total of 32 Iranian sailors were rescued. The ship was returning from an exercise to which India had invited it.
Video footage of the Iranian frigate being hit by a torpedo was also published in the media.
