Sweden condemns Vulin's statement: Direct threat to Kosovo and Kurti

The statement by former Serbian intelligence director Aleksandar Vulin has sparked a strong reaction in Kosovo.
The Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, called it an unacceptable threat to the state of Kosovo and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
According to Sveçla, the analogy Vulin used with the Mossad model is deeply threatening.
"Importing analogies from a conflict with open war dynamics, armed threats and announced operations against actors considered enemies, and applying them in relation to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, means normalizing the logic of secret operations as a means of direct threat and destabilization in the Balkans. It is known that Aleksandar Vulin has had close political and institutional relations with Russia, including intelligence structures, as well as with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. Due to his activity, the United States of America has placed him on the sanctions list, citing, among other things, connections and cooperation with Russian intelligence actors," Svečla wrote.
He also recalled past cases, saying that Vulin's statement is related to a dangerous history.
"Our recent history proves that Serbian intelligence structures have been involved in the assassination of prominent Albanian political activists, such as Jusuf Gërvalla, Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka. Therefore, when Vulin states that Serbian intelligence 'knows how to do this', he refers to a dangerous precedent. It remains unacceptable to tolerate threatening language and aspirations for violent actions or violation of the sovereignty of other countries," he said.
Sveçla also mentioned a case that occurred in February, when three foreign citizens illegally entered Kosovo.
“In this context, in the second week of February, two Belarusian citizens and one Russian citizen, after initially staying in Serbia, illegally entered Kosovo in camouflage. They were stopped and arrested by our security institutions and the case is under investigation. In addition to their military experience, specialist explosives training and connections with Serbia, they possessed equipment for orientation, camouflage and the implementation of operational plans – elements that coincide with the rhetoric articulated by Vulin”, added Sveçla.
Finally, he said that Kosovo institutions are ready to face any threat and that the country will not back down.
"The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, at a high level of professionalism, are fulfilling their constitutional and legal mandate. They are ready to face any kind of threat in a professional manner and in accordance with the law. At the same time, we as bearers of the institutions do not retreat in the face of these threats and will continue our path towards strengthening our independent and sovereign Republic. The efforts of Russia and Serbia to destabilize the region must have the full attention of relevant international factors. And neither Vulin, nor Vučić, can either intimidate us or stop us," he concluded.
