After announcing the presidential candidate, LDK reacts harshly to LVV: They do

The Democratic League of Kosovo has reacted harshly to the Vetevendosje Movement over the process of electing the new president.

LDK says that VV's approach does not reflect serious efforts for a solution.

Note:
The Democratic League of Kosovo has always believed that the process of electing the President of the Republic of Kosovo must be carried out with full seriousness and institutional responsibility, as well as in the true spirit of consensus required by the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

The meetings so far between political entities have been consultative, with the aim of finding a consensual candidate for this important state position.

Consensus is not a political competition and cannot be built as a process where one side proposes names, while others are invited only to support them. Consensus implies a joint process of discussion and agreement on a figure who represents the institutional unity of the country and enjoys broad parliamentary trust.

The approach of the Vetëvendosje! Movement does not reflect a serious effort to build this consensus. On the contrary, it treats this process as a political competition rather than an attempt to reach political agreement. Such an approach serves neither the spirit of the Constitution nor the country’s need for institutional stability.

The LDK assesses that the way this process has been conducted by the VV does not create the conditions for the election of the President and does not demonstrate a genuine intention to reach a broad political agreement. The election of the President is a process that requires prudence, responsibility and a true will for cooperation between parliamentary entities.

In this spirit, the Democratic League of Kosovo expresses regret that, due to this irresponsible political approach, the country is heading towards exceeding constitutional deadlines and risks being sent to yet another round of new elections, instead of achieving the institutional stability that our citizens expect and deserve.
