Serious in Italy! Ambulance driver suspected of killing 5 patients. Suspected of…

A 27-year-old ambulance driver has been placed under investigation by prosecutors in the northern Italian city of Forlì on suspicion of killing five elderly patients while transporting them. According to authorities, the young man, an employee of the Italian Red Cross, is suspected of administering harmful substances to patients during routine transfers between hospitals and nursing homes in the Emilia-Romagna region. All of the victims suffered cardiac arrest during transport or shortly after arriving at their destination.
According to ANSA reports, one of the most recent cases involves an 85-year-old woman who lost her life in November 2025. One patient died en route, while the others passed away a few hours or days later, in one case up to 13 days after transport.
Suspicions were raised after the family of one of the victims requested an autopsy, not convinced that the death was due solely to underlying health conditions. Until then, most cases had been considered natural causes due to the age and health problems of the patients. The families' lawyers, Max Starni and Massimo Banbelli, explained that these were ordinary patient transports, not medical emergencies, and that the ambulances were usually manned by two drivers, without the presence of nursing staff.
Prosecutors are investigating the case for aggravated murder, considering the possibility of premeditation and the use of poisonous substances or covert methods. However, the 27-year-old has not been arrested. The local branch of the Italian Red Cross announced that it was informed of the case four days ago and immediately suspended the employee, expressing confidence that the investigation will fully clarify the incident. On the other hand, the defense lawyer, Gloria Parigi, told La Repubblica that her client categorically denies the charges and is cooperating with the authorities, emphasizing that the patients were in serious health conditions and that additional medical support had been called in in any case.
