Massive flooding in Skopje, Makrova River overflows its banks

Heavy rainfall that hit Skopje yesterday evening caused the level of the Markova River to rise, leading to its overflowing in some areas and flooding of properties.
According to the Regional Crisis Management Center in Skopje, the river overflowed the bridge near the settlement of Lubosh and caused flooding in several houses, warehouses and industrial facilities in the villages of Studeničan and Batinci, as well as in parts of Pintija.
Flooding has also been reported on a part of Boris Trajkovski Boulevard, near the Pintija neighborhood. Local authorities in Studeničani and Kisela Voda have intervened on the ground to manage the situation, while emergency services have been deployed in the most affected areas.
The City of Skopje Fire and Rescue Brigade, the Public Enterprises of the City of Skopje, as well as the Local Government Units are participating in the rescue and crisis management operations. The authorities are monitoring the situation and are on standby for any further deterioration of conditions.
