NATO chief warns India, China and Brazil: Pressure Putin to make peace with Ukraine or else...
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has warned China, India and Brazil that they could face severe economic sanctions if they continue to do business with Russia. He urged them to call Vladimir Putin to demand an end to the war in Ukraine.
He made the comments a day after Donald Trump threatened "severe" secondary tariffs of 100% on buyers of Russian exports if Moscow does not make peace in Ukraine within 50 days.
Speaking at a meeting with senators in the US Congress, Rutte said: "My encouragement to these three countries is, you might want to consider this because this could hit you very hard."
"Please call Vladimir Putin and tell him he needs to get serious about peace talks," Rutte added.
A day earlier, Rutte, together with Trump, held a press conference at the White House, where they declared that the US has agreed to sell modern weapons to NATO, which will then be transferred to Ukraine.
