Went on vacation but disappeared, 3 tourists are found dead in a well in Mexico!

The bodies of three tourists missing for several days have been found in a well in northwestern Mexico. They were reportedly shot to death in the head, authorities said.

Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, 30 and 33, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, disappeared on April 27 while out surfing in Ensenada.

Relatives of the three victims identified their bodies on Sunday after traveling to Mexico to help authorities. According to officials, the youths were allegedly killed by several robbers who wanted to steal their vehicle, but they resisted, Baja California State Attorney Maria Andrade said.

Their bodies were found in a 4m deep well about 6km from the site of the attack in the city of Santo Tomas on Friday. Abandoned tents, a burnt-out white pick-up truck and a phone belonging to one of the victims were found nearby.

A fourth body was found in the well but had been there for a longer period of time and was unrelated to the case, officials said.

Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of direct or indirect involvement in the attack. Baja California is one of the most violent states in Mexico due to local drug gangs.

But the Ensenada area, about 120 km south of the US-Mexico border, is considered safer and has long attracted tourists from California. The killings have sparked fear and anger.
