White House: Peace in Ukraine has never been closer

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said at a press conference that a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia has never been closer than at this moment.
"The president is determined to do one," she added.
Asked if Donald Trump would consider imposing sanctions on Russia if his phone call with Vladimir Putin doesn't go well tomorrow, Leavitt replies: "It's something he's willing to do if necessary."
Leavitt also sidestepped a question about whether Volodymyr Zelensky gave Trump the authority to share Ukrainian assets with Putin.
She says she was part of the discussion between the US president and his Ukrainian counterpart, but adds that more details will come after Trump's phone call with Putin tomorrow.
She also refused to answer a question about whether Trump and Putin will discuss Zelensky's future.
