Tension in the Middle of the Sea! US Navy Opens Fire on Iranian Merchant Ship

The US military has released a video showing a US Navy guided-missile destroyer opening fire on an Iranian merchant vessel. According to Centcom, after the Touska's crew "failed to heed repeated warnings" for six hours.

"The guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted the Touska while it was sailing in the northern Arabian Sea at a speed of 17 knots, heading towards Bandar Abbas, Iran. US forces issued several warnings and informed the Iranian-flagged vessel that it was violating the US naval blockade," a statement from the United States Central Command said.

The Iranian merchant vessel's propulsion system was disabled "by firing its 5-inch MK 45 cannon multiple times into the Touska's engine room. U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit then boarded the vessel, which remains under United States control."
