Trump attacks New York Times for articles questioning his health: This is insurrection, even treason

US President Donald Trump has reacted sharply to media reports questioning his health and energy, calling them “insurrection, perhaps even treason.” In a lengthy message on Truth Social, Trump specifically accused the New York Times and other media outlets of spreading insinuations that he no longer has the pace he once had.
“The New York Times and others constantly write false articles to discredit me and to diminish the image of the president of the United States,” he wrote.
Trump, 79, currently the oldest president ever elected in the United States, said he had undergone extensive medical examinations and that “no president has worked harder than I have.” He added that he had also “excelled” in cognitive tests, tests that, according to him, his predecessors never took.
Trump's reaction came after a New York Times article reported that his daily routine is noticeably lighter than during his first term and that he seems to fall asleep during public events. Trump responded in harsh tones, declaring that "the best thing for this city would be for the New York Times to stop publishing."
The newspaper's spokeswoman, Nicole Taylor, told AFP that Americans have a right to receive full information about the health of the officials they elect. She recalled that Trump himself had previously praised the NYT's reporting on the health of other presidents, and that the same professional approach is followed for him.
During his campaign, Trump has frequently accused Democratic rival Joe Biden of health problems, claiming he suffers from dementia. At a recent rally in Pennsylvania, he even called Biden "asleep" during a speech that lasted more than an hour.
At the end of his statement, Trump emphasized: "If one day I slow down, I'll know. But that's not happening now."
