Fires engulf Turkey, Izmir in flames, smoke reaches Patmos! Airport closed

Turkey is facing its biggest wildfires in weeks, with thousands of hectares of forest scorched and homes, property and nature at risk. Strong winds and difficult weather conditions are making the work of firefighters and air force even more difficult.
Izmir is a near disaster, ash from the fires has even reached the Greek island of Patmos. Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport has suspended all flights, including international routes from London, Copenhagen, Cologne and Sofia.
In the region between Menderes and Seferihisar, firefighters are battling fires that are spreading due to winds reaching 70–117 km/h.
The following are engaged in the field:
aircraft that drop up to 12 tons of water
helicopters on standby and underway
Three villages in the surrounding areas have already been evacuated, while large neighborhoods in the city are still being evacuated. There are no reports of casualties, but three residents have shown signs of distress due to smoke and have been taken to hospital. The Forestry Agency suspects that the cause may have been sparks from electrical cables, but official confirmation is awaited.
Authorities warn residents to exercise maximum caution and call for help, while the atmosphere remains tense until the weather improves.
