March 7/ They made a valuable contribution to the field of education, the busts

Although they made a valuable contribution to the field of education and preservation of the Albanian language during the National Renaissance period, the names on the busts of Kostandin Kristoforidhi, Aleksandër Stavre Drenova, and Naum Veqilharxhi in Korca have been damaged.

Some of the letters have fallen and the supporting concrete has cracked, while the need to repair the damage is urgent. The busts of the Renaissance men are located in the pedestrian area of the city of Korça, next to the Municipality building, while this institution does nothing to repair them, not even on this March 7th.

Kostandin Kristoforidhi was a linguist and translator, notable for his translation of the New Testament. Aleksandër Stavre Drenova (Asdreni) was a poet and lyricist of our National Anthem, while Naum Veqilharxhi is known for publishing the first Albanian Primer with 33 letters.

The minimum respect that the Municipality of Korça can show is to repair the names, so that the younger generation can see them, read them and learn about their work.
