EULEX demands full investigation into the death of Agon Zejnullah in Lipjan

The death of 27-year-old Agon Zejnullahu in Lipjan, following a police intervention, has caused strong reactions in public and international opinion. The Head of the EULEX Mission in Kosovo, Giovanni Pietro Barbano, has called for a full and transparent investigation into the incident, while stressing the need for institutional clarity and legal accountability.

The prosecution has described the incident as “negligent homicide” and has detained for 48 hours five police officers involved in the operation that led to the young man’s death. However, the fact that the case is not included in the daily report of the Kosovo Police has increased suspicions of a lack of transparency.

Agon Zejnullahu died in handcuffs, in the presence of several officers, under circumstances that are still unclear. According to the medical report, the cause of death is suspected to be physical abuse, while his family claims that the body had over 20 signs of violence and serious injuries.

The event has shocked public opinion and brought harsh reactions from human rights organizations, which demand immediate clarification of the circumstances and bringing those responsible to justice.
