Alesia Balliu announces candidacy for the Democratic Party (DP)

Activist Alesia Balliu has announced her candidacy for the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Post
Dear citizens and democrats,

I have decided to run against Sali Berisha for the leadership of the Democratic Party, in one of its most difficult moments.

I do not intend to embellish reality: this party is not in crisis today by chance. It is in crisis because for years it has been led by a model who has refused to read the losses, accept responsibility, and respect the rules it has set itself.

Many will ask: why now?

Because there is no more time to waste. Because every day that passes with the same leadership model is one day further away from the citizens and one step closer to the dissolution of our political identity. Waiting today means giving up.

Let's be clear: consecutive defeats are no longer coincidences. They are choices. They are the result of a leadership that doesn't leave, even when the vote speaks against it. They are the result of a culture that puts the individual above the party and the party above Democrats.

The Democratic Party's statute is not decoration. It is the boundary that separates a democratic party from a personal party, and when this boundary is violated, it is not just a rule that is broken—it is the very trust that is broken.

A party that does not respect its own rules cannot seek to govern a country. Most importantly: The Democratic Party cannot be led by a person on the non grata list. It cannot have a leader who attacks justice institutions like SPAK.

The DP was not created to be the property of individuals. It was created to become a door of communication with our strategic partners, including the United States, and to bring the voice of Albanians to the international arena. A leader who attacks justice or breaks trust with our allies cannot represent this mission.

This is why this party has been emptied from within. Not only of people, but of thought. Not only of members, but of personalities. Those who gave this force dignity, vision and public weight have left because they no longer found space, no longer found merit, no longer found justice.

This isn't just a loss. This is a slip-up.

I am not running for office. I am running to close a cycle.
I am running for the young people who no longer see themselves in this party.
I am running for the Democrats who are tired of losing and the arrogance of justifying it.
I am running to restore meritocracy as a rule and not as a campaign decoration.

As Alexis de Tocqueville reminds us,
“The greatest danger to a democracy comes not from its enemies, but from its deformation from within.”

Today, the challenge is not between me and an individual.
The challenge is between two models:
a model that holds the future hostage, and a model that seeks to unlock it.

I don't promise miracles. I promise standards. I promise order. I promise responsibility.

I will not remain silent in the face of the past.
I will not compromise by breaking the rules, and I will not retreat in the face of difficulties.

I invite every democrat, every young person, every citizen who believes in change, not to remain a spectator.
The Democratic Party is not anyone's property. It is the faith of many, and this faith is no longer held hostage.

This is my challenge and this is our challenge.

With respect Alesia Balliu!????????✌️????????
