Salianji met with intellectuals in Tirana: Albania with a deformed political

Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji, held a meeting with intellectuals in the capital today, where issues related to political and social developments in the country were discussed.

During his speech, Salianji described this meeting as a long-missing initiative in Albania, emphasizing that activities organized by politicians often have an electoral character and do not focus on issues that concern citizens.

"This meeting seems like a beautiful and long-missing event in our Albania, where only politics organizes meetings for electoral interests and not to discuss issues that concern society," he said.

Salianji raised concerns about what he called the deep deformation of the political system in the country, stressing that the responsibility falls on the entire political class. According to him, this situation has led to weakened institutions and decision-making that does not serve the interests of citizens, but rather certain groups.

He stressed that the lack of respect for rules by political parties endangers the very functioning of democracy, while adding that resignation as an act of political responsibility has disappeared.

The former MP then criticized the lack of involvement of intellectuals and citizens in decision-making processes, describing this as a discouraging tendency from politics.

"Albania has long had a deep deformation of the political system and the entire political class is responsible. This has led to weakened institutions and decision-making that does not serve the interests of citizens. Everything is done for the interests of certain clans.

"Without parties that obey the rules, we no longer have democracy. Today, even resignation is not removed as a sublime act. Politics seems to aim not at the participation of intellectuals and citizens, but at discouraging them from participating in processes. It seems as if real debate on the economy or public administration does not exist. It seems as if the voices that react are strange, when it should be the opposite," he said.
