Arben Ahmetaj complains about the seizure of properties

Former Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj has appealed to the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime the seizure measure that SPAK imposed a few days ago on two real estates (villas). The two objects are in the name of Ahmetaj's ex-wife and current cohabitant and were seized by SPAK as Ahmetaj is under investigation for abuse of office, concealment of assets and money laundering. In his request to GJKKO, the former minister calls the seizure measure illegal.

Even in the case of the inspections that BKH carried out in his apartments, Ahmetaj and his partner appealed the findings, but GJKKO rejected the request. The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, said that Ahmetaj is being investigated and his property is being traced, since according to him, evidence was found during the inspection of the villa.

On March 8, 2023, BKH officers searched the apartment of Erjola Hoxha, Ahmetaj's partner, in the Gjiri t Lalzi area and seized her phone. Ahmetaj and Hoxha appealed to GJKKO, considering the control illegal. The defense claimed that despite the fact that the house is in Hoxha's name, Ahmetaj also lives there. The latter is a member of parliament and in the capacity of a lawmaker, the Assembly should have been asked first to check the house. But this fact, according to them, was overlooked, while they further submitted that the ex-minister's co-habitant was not guaranteed the right to have a trusted person nearby before the search began, while the officers also asked provocative questions about the items they had in the apartment. Ahmetaj is under investigation by SPAK for criminal offenses: "Corruption", "abuse of duty", "wealth concealment" and "money laundering". SPAK has seized several villas that are the property of Ahmetaj's ex-wife and current partner.
