The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, while participating in a panel on the topic of "EU Enlargement", stated that Europe must move rapidly in two main directions, to strengthen itself in the military and in the economic field.
Edi Rama: The EU must change its mind about what is happening, because its attitude towards us and the pace of approximation for the Western Balkans has changed.
What is happening is changing very slowly and very little.
We can talk all day about the merit-based process, but the time has come to make a clear distinction; the merit-based process should only be for the vote in the EC.
Based on merit cannot mean the behavior of EU countries towards the common market.
I think this could be accelerated and could be something that is much more related to bringing that part of Europe that is not in the EU much closer.
If we think about the continent without Russia, we are 700 million, an incredible market.
