Berisha joins Rama against increasing judges' salaries: They have the highest in the Balkans, their appetite has increased

After Prime Minister Edi Rama, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has also come out against the request of the Union of Judges to increase their salaries.

Speaking at a press conference, Berisha said that judges' salaries today are the highest in the Balkans.

"Prosecutors and judges in Albania are paid more than their colleagues in the Balkans and the same as those in some European countries. There is nothing more absurd and this has only increased their appetite. If you find a citizen who tells you that my judicial process is going on without bribes, order them. Today, bribery has reached the most gigantic proportions in the history of the state," said Berisha.

Although he did not mention names, the DP leader referred to accusations made during the time when Bamir Topi was President and the Vice President of the Supreme Court, Kreshnik Spahiu, for whom he said they received 150 thousand to 300 thousand euros.

"There was a period when this jackal who comes out every night speaking from Shallvaret or Berlin, together with his boss, the European Commission in an investigative report accuses them of receiving 150 thousand euros for a transfer, 200-300 thousand euros for an appointment in Tirana. If there is anything at the root of the destruction of that system, these two stand behind it," Berisha further declared.

According to him, "Rexhep Meidani did not follow this practice. This practice was installed with these two people. They came to me and asked if we should publish this report and I said "yes".
