The Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense, in today's meeting, is reviewing the draft law "On the import, export and transit of firearms, their main components and ammunition", where the Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu himself is present.
While speaking about the draft, a strong response came from PL MP Tedi Blushi, who accused the minister of granting military properties to a person under investigation by NATO.
I have several issues for which I believe public interest is heightened, starting from the fact that Edi Rama's former right-hand man, Mr. Ahmetaj, has made some very serious denunciations, as part of his long-standing denunciations of the most monstrous affairs of this government, and one of them is related precisely to the Ministry of Defense.
Issues and accusations for which there is still no public explanation, neither from the Prime Minister nor from the Ministry of Defense, and since today you have brought a law on weapons for consideration, I would like to know from the Minister of Defense what the government's interest was in concluding the Agreement with Elbit System.
I ask this question because of the very fact that NATO, of which we are a member, has suspended this company and placed it under investigation.
A company, which according to Mr. Ahmetaj, is also benefiting from the properties of the Albanian army.
Therefore, it is time for you, Mr. Minister, to speak out on this issue, which cannot pass in silence, because the military's properties are neither yours nor Edi Rama's, and this issue, as long as it is related to national security, deserves transparency and accountability before the Commission.
I wanted to know from you, is Edi Rama forgiving the military properties to Ron Yeffect and how much military property has this Israeli businessman benefited from up until this moment we are talking?
A businessman who has been involved in scandals wherever he has operated, from Senegal to NATO member countries.
So, you have donated property to the army, to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, Ron Yeffect?
Do you have an agreement with him, as Minister, and is he involved as a businessman in current activities for the import and export of weapons?
Another issue that I wanted to raise today in this Committee is related to floods.
There have been many denunciations regarding the fact that the Armed Forces have been left to the mercy of fate, without having the necessary means to cope with this situation, especially in the Korca Region, where employees themselves, not only of your Ministry, but also of the military, have denounced the fact that the means with which you have sent to the field to cope with the consequences of the floods that were in fact caused by the corruption of the Government that you represent in this Commission and not because of God, have been left to the mercy of fate.
What measures have the Ministry of Defense taken in relation to the situation?
Where are they today, because we no longer have reports, are there forces on the ground today, from the Ministry of Defense, from the Armed Forces to help citizens?
Because the images that were broadcast in the media, when the alleged Delta Force of the Albanian army was flooded in the canals of the Durrës District, were inappropriate, especially for a NATO member country.
When will the Albanian Government fulfill that conditionality, regarding the financing of the army, in the criteria required by NATO?
